Pilates

Pilates

The Pilates method was designed by the late Joseph Pilates to strengthen the body's core by developing pelvic stability and abdominal control. It has a huge effect on one's flexibility and uses a variety of stretches to help elongate many different muscles of the human body. Through doing Pilates, the body is bound to redevelop its natural foundation, which is often hindered by poor posture and other issues resulting from our day-to-day lives. Pilates builds co-ordination and strength; and also improves flexibility and joint mobility through slow, controlled movements and proper breathing. By combining elements of yoga, breath work, weight training, and gymnastics, Pilates has come to be a truly holistic form of exercise, producing amazing results.

Pilates was introduced to the world during the early 20th century, first used as a rehabilitation program for soldiers that were injured in WWII, and was later found to be extremely beneficial for everybody looking for a higher level of fitness.

All our instructors are trainer or certified with the STOTT PILATES method, one the widest international Pilates based method. Co-founders Moira and Lindsay G. Merrithew got together with a team of physical therapists, sports medicine, and fitness professionals to combine the basic Pilates method with newer anatomical studies in order to create and develop new, safe programs as well as their very own equipment brand to accommodate anyone from a first timer to an elite athlete.
